The Priory Maze and Gardens is a wonderful year-round attraction near Sheringham in North Norfolk that is the culmination of a passionate four-year project of reclamation, re-construction and construction.
Set in ten acres, the Maze and Gardens offer an interesting and enjoyable day out for everyone – keen gardeners will be amazed at the rich diversity of plants that have been successfully cultivated in the gardens mild micro-climate, children and adults alike can participate in the fun and testing ‘Quiz Trail’, and the gardens are the perfect place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily modern life.
Among the several small waterfalls and ponds which provide that essential soothing sound of running water, you will find the Winter Walk, the Norfolk Riviera Garden, the North Norfolk Garden, the Aromatic Garden, the Romantic Garden, the Pine Walk and the Wild Flower Meadow. The Priory Maze and Gardens also has the only Hedge Maze in Norfolk, the size and design of which is based on the ruins of the adjacent Beeston Priory. The Christmas Tree Wood provides a delightfully seasonal atmosphere.
The Gardens and Maze also has the lovely Foxgloves Tearooms – ideal for refreshments or a light lunch.
If visiting the gardens has inspired you to get creative in your own green space, visit the extensive plant centre where you can take home rare and unusual plants from around the world as well as well as many plants that have been produced here in Norfolk.
