Dining in the Conservatory at Heacham Manor.

Situated in picturesque gardens on the edge of West and North Norfolk, Heacham Manor is a recently restored 16th Century country house that offers modern luxury in a rural idyll.

For dining, look no further than the airy and stylish Mulberry Restaurant (named after the garden’s ancient mulberry tree, said to have been planted by the famous Native American Indian, Pocahontas, during her stay in Heacham a few hundred years ago). Offering breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals it is the ideal choice whether you wish to ‘set yourself up for the day’, treat a loved one or gather the whole family together to celebrate a special occasion.

Head Chef Neil Rutland (formerly of the much-celebrated Hoste Arms in Burnham Market) is a champion of keeping dishes fresh and simple to create a pure ‘dining experience’ and makes a point of using local produce throughout his menus. Suppliers to Heacham Manor include Arthur Howell butchers in Wells-next-the-Sea, while seafood hails from King’s Lynn and Thornham (or sometimes local fishermen), fruit and veg from Coldham Fruit and ice cream from Norfolk Farmhouse Ice Creams of Dereham. Superb.

French Pastry Chef Fabien compliments Neil’s main courses with deserts that’ll satisfy even the sweetest of tooths!

Depending on your preference (and the time of year), you can dine in the stunning Conservatory, in the stylish Bar & Lounge area or outside on the terrace.

Service Times.

Lunch: 12Noon-2.30pm (full A la Carte and Daily Specials menus are available).

Excellent dining at The Neptune Restaurant, Old Hunstanton, North Norfolk.

Recipient of a coveted Michelin Star (one of only two Norfolk eateries to receive such an honour) The Neptune Restaurant at Old Hunstanton is exceptional on so many levels that it must be visited at least once when visiting the area. And if you are lucky enough to reside in Norfolk then this charming treasure is more than worth the journey.

The site of ‘The Rifleman’ in the 1780’s when it was used as a store for seized contraband, it has been known as The Neptune since the 19th century. Now under the careful ownership of Kevin and Jacki Mangoelles, the Restaurant with rooms has been transformed to evoke images of the New England coast of Maine – warm and friendly, but with a generous portion of outstanding quality.

With nautical themes throughout, brown mellow tones and white clapboard walls, The Neptune could easily be fragranced by either home-baked apple pie or salty sea air. The Lloyd Loom sofas and chairs add to the relaxed ambience of the bar, lounge and restaurant.

Under Head Chef Kevin (who also earned a Michelin star in his last restaurant on the Isle of Wight), the classic-modern food at The Neptune is lovingly created from fresh local produce such as Thornham Oysters and Plums from Orchard Farm. Already a prestigious 3 AA Rosette restaurant, The Neptune is a permanent 5 star fixture in the Good Food Guide.

True to its origin as a coaching inn, The Neptune offers accommodation in 7 fabulous en-suite bedrooms, all furnished with the clean lines of white, hand made New England furniture.

Outside view of Cley Windmill.

Dining at Cley Windmill is arguably one of the most memorable and delightful experiences that you can have in Norfolk. Even, perhaps, in life…

Featured in the Good Food Guide 2009, its restaurant is a special place to eat, offering the exceptional combination of a truly unique setting (a stunning early 18th Century windmill on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast) with great quality, traditional fare.

Chefs Adam (formerly of The Anchor in Morston) and Brian (previously at The White Horse, Brancaster) work hard to produce old-fashioned, homemade English country cuisine. Fresh seasonal and local produce features heavily, and as everything is made on-site, pre-notified dietary preferences are easily accommodated.

Dinner at Cley Windmill is a highly enjoyable and friendly affair, making you feel more like an old friend dining in someone’s home than in an ‘official’ establishment.

Upon arrival (from 6.45pm), you are invited to take in the spectacular views from the gallery while enjoying a pre-dinner drink (by the roaring fire in Winter or out on the lawn in the summer months). There is also an Honesty Bar in the circular sitting room.

Food is served at 7.30pm. Each evening there is a new Set Menu of three courses, complimented by candlelight and a good selection of fine wines and soft drinks.

Three course dinner at Cley Windmill costs £32.50, including complimentary tea or coffee to round off your evening. Booking in advance is essential.

Marvelously, Cley Windmill also offers amazing accommodation if you don’t want to drive home after your lovely meal.

Cley Windmill is licensed for civil ceremonies and weddings and the entire windmill can be occupied for the wedding and reception afterward. It is an unforgettable and stunning venue for a small romantic wedding.
