The charming Lifeboat Inn at Thornham is a real North-Norfolk treasure. Its coastal location provides breathtaking views towards Thornham beach and it is a romantic, rustic and atmospheric escape.

The Lifeboat bar is popular and often bustling into the evening – a perfect retreat to recover from walks along the beach or from exploring the area.

On first impressions, The Red Lion at Stiffkey is a traditional Norfolk Pub in almost every sense of the word, from the rustic wooden pews and four log fires to the original stone floor and selection of local brews on offer. However, since the 1st May 2008, this popular refreshment stop for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers has seen the addition of 10 fabulous rooms, making it one of the most special places to stay near the North Norfolk Coast.
Modern, chalet-style rooms (5 on the ground floor with a small terrace and garden area outside and 5 on the first floor, each with a private balcony) offer luxurious hotel accommodation at a location that is perfect for discovering the entire North Norfolk region. Despite its name, this former Coaching Inn on the North Norfolk Coast is not all it seems… Multifaceted, this particular hostelry combines a charming country pub with a rather swish Italian restaurant and comfortable country Inn accommodation.

Centrally located on the A149 coast road, Stiffkey is easily reached from all the towns, villages and attractions that make this region special, from the chic rural hotspots of Holt and Burnham Market to the more classic seaside resorts of Sheringham, Cromer and Wells. There is a popular campsite just a stroll away and the Pub is close enough to the sea for those sitting outside to be refreshed by the sea breeze on warmer days.
In wonderful contrast, eating at The Stiffkey Red Lion is a less traditional affair. While the decor may be reassuringly simple, as you’d expect from a bona fide country alehouse, the cuisine is fresh, modern and mouth-watering. Ideally situated on the North Norfolk coast (and reachable on foot from several nearby locations, including Wells-next-the-Sea), The Red Lion is the ideal stop-off for walkers, cyclists or birdwatchers. The Hunny Bell is part of the highly acclaimed family of pubs and restaurants known collectively as the ‘Animal Inns’, which count among their number two Michelin Bib Gourmand eateries in Norwich.
As with all the Animal Inns establishments, The Hunny Bell has its own unique character that has been enhanced in style and quality by its new owners. A totally unique concept in eating out, The Yurt is a large, round, semi-permanent tent with vertical walls and a conical roof. The open, airy restaurant bears hallmarks of a European brasserie, with a twist of rustic Norfolk charm.
