Situated in the pretty, quintessential Norfolk village of Hindolveston (pop. 500 approx and proudly proclaimed by the inhabitants to be ‘the centre of the universe’) between Fakenham and Aylsham, Number 45 is a Bed & Breakfast offering a unique and lovely experience to its guests.
A traditional B&B that is also very much a home, Number 45 used to be the village shop before Janet and Dave Morrison took it on and completely renovated and refurbished it. Number 45 has been lovingly styled inside to evoke the character of a 1930s/1940s country farmhouse. Three bedrooms (a double with its own separate bathroom, a twin that is en-suite and a single room) feel very cosy and inviting, decorated with classic patterns, colours and fabrics of the like that modern designers such as Cath Kidston have made über-desirable again. Refreshingly, televisions are absent from the bedrooms (sleep experts recommend such an arrangement for a truly wonderful night’s sleep), but you will find tea and coffee making facilities and a radio, which is a nice touch, in keeping with the nostalgic edge of Number 45. If you absolutely cannot leave technology behind during your stay, guests are welcome to use the landline telephone, the computer and the impressive ‘home cinema’ equipment in the lounge where you can watch films.
Jan and Dave have many strings to their bow - you will notice wonderful artwork produced by various members of the family all over the Bed and Breakfast. Jan is a keen gardener (hence the lovely garden and floral displays throughout) and also a rather fabulous cook. A freshly baked cake usually awaits you upon arrival (we can personally vouch for the deliciousness of these!) and breakfast (available at a time to suit, by arrangement) is potentially a multi-course extravaganza. With cereals, fresh fruit and locally-produced juice alongside honey and preserves made by Jan (they keep their own bees at another location), as well as the offering of a cooked breakfast comprised of locally-sourced goodies, you will be well set up to go out and explore the wider area of North Norfolk.
Children over 14 welcome with well-behaved Parents.
The B&B has its own polite and friendly cat and so unfortunately cannot allow guests’ pets.
