Tucked away like a wonderful secret behind Hunters on Staithe Street in the popular coastal town of Wells-next-the-Sea, Gallery-next-the-Sea is a modern Gallery and Exhibition Centre, showcasing work by local and national artists (the emphasis being on locally produced art), ceramics, photography and sculpture.
Entry is free and once inside, the relaxed ambience encourages you to take your time and enjoy the art on show, with no fear of being subjected to a ‘hard sell’. The great news is, however, that all art on display is for sale, meaning that should you wish to, you can take it home with you to enjoy it further.
Since its opening in early 2007, The Gallery has strived to feature artists and products that cannot be seen elsewhere in Wells and that are a little bit different to the ‘norm’. The art on display is rotated every 5-6 weeks and you can usually see work by around 20-30 artists on display at the Gallery.
As well as the art, you can pick up unique greeting cards. Gift vouchers are also available.
Summer opening: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 11am-4pm.
Winter Opening: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm. Closed Sundays.
