Autumn in North Norfolk is so beautiful. The summertime air becomes piqued with a crisp coolness and the landscape is transformed with the reds, golds and browns of the season.The region is still very much a hive of activity as harvest takes places inland and apples and wild mushrooms come into their own, shortly followed by pumpkins and elderberries. Seafood-wise, oysters and mussels are back in season (and, usually, back on the menu at many of our fantastic eating houses).
Speaking of food, September sees the first ever North Norfolk Food & Drink Festival take place at Holkham Hall, one of our most beautiful and prestigious charms. Some of our finest food producers (including Drinks Sponsor The Real Ale Shop) will be showcasing their wares, alongside cookery demonstrations, talks and all sorts of other foodie-related activities. Yum.
Across the entire county over the coming months the Normans In Norfolk series of events continues, offering visitors the opportunity to discover more about why Norfolk was one of England’s principal Norman counties. Castles, walks, talks and activities for all ages are worth a look.
